Sound Reasoning Course“Sound Reasoning” is a free web-based, interactive music appreciation course created for Rice University’s OpenStax. By focusing on style-transcendent principles, the course is designed to help non-musicians listen to music both familiar and unfamiliar. Listening examples are interpolated directly into the text; listening exercises are included with each chapter. The course is self-paced and available 24/7. No prior musical experience is required. “Sound Reasoning” was funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
